The Max Planck Institute for Brain Research (MPI for Brain Research) in Frankfurt/Main, Germany is a growing research institution of more than 300 people, working in the field of basic biological and medical research. We focus on understanding how the brain works, particularly the circuits and network of neurons within it.

A research group, Memory and Navigation Circuits (Group leader: Dr. Hiroshi Ito), investigates neural circuits that are necessary for animals to navigate to a desired location in the environment. We are looking for a

Technician (BTA/MTA/CTA)


to join our group at 100% employment with a fixed-term contract of two years.

The candidate will work in close collaboration with our international researchers. The main tasks will be histology, including brain sectioning and immunohistochemistry, construction of multielectrode microdrives, virus injection in the animal’s brain, as well as experimental support of our researchers.

The position requires willingness to participate in animal experiments. Prior experience in handling of rodents as well as knowledge in neuroscience are desirable. There will be ample possibility for developing personal skills and independence. You will be supported in acquiring additional skills/qualifications and, if wanted, in promoting your academic education.

We are searching for an energetic, motivated and independent candidate who is good at communication and fits into our group. The successful candidate should have completed professional training as technician or a related qualification. Good communication skill in English is required. Basic conversational skill in German is desirable.

We offer a competitive salary based on TVöD (Bund) (Collective Wage Agreement for Government Service Workers (Federal Government)) depending on qualifications and professional experience as well as various fringe benefits in accordance with public service provisions.
