Scientific Computing and Data Visualization

The last years have seen a big increase in the computational requirements of multidisciplinary research in Life Sciences. Most projects depend upon the collection and joint interpretation of very large data sets stemming from different experimental techniques.  This calls for specially adapted tools for data management, analysis and visualization of results. The computational skills and available manpower to meet these requirements in an optimal way can easily exceed the capacities of individual groups.

There is where we come into play: the Scientific Computing Unit provides efficient software solutions for the computational problems encountered by MPIBR scientists and their external collaborators. Combining in-house developed tools and adaptions of standard scientific software packages, we support  a wide range of experimental techniques and operative approaches used by our researchers, including two-photon and electron microscopy, bio- and neuroinformatics, behavioral studies and electrophysiology.
