Helene Schmidt receives the Otto Hahn Medal and Otto Hahn Award (Helmstaedter Lab)
Helene Schmidt has been awarded the Otto Hahn Medal and Otto Hahn Award at the MPG's 70th annual meeting in Hamburg for her PhD work carried out in collaboration between Michael Brecht at HU Berlin and Helmstaedter Lab at MPI Brain Research. Helene discovered a feed-forward inhibitory circuit motif with precise synaptic arrangements along dendrites and axons of medial entorhinal cortex neurons, revealing an unexpected level of precision in mammalian cortical microcircuits.
