Girls day

April 24, 2008

In order to attract more girls to jobs considered to be typical male, a nationwide initiative called "GirlsDay" is organized every year on the 4rd Thursday in April. Originally, this meant that daughters visit their fathers for a day at work. Today, it has developed in a way that companies invite female students in grades 5 to 10 to show them certain fields of work. The Max Planck Institute for Brain Research has been involved in GirlsDays already five times. On this occasion, young scientists explain their field of research to the students and present their work in the laboratory, at the microscope and in the brain imaging center intending to raise the students desire to do science and research.
