Tatjana Tchumatchenko receives MainCampus Educator Award

November 15, 2017

Tatjana Tchumatchenko, the leader of Theory of Neural Dynamics Group at the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research, has been awarded the MainCampus Educator Award by Frankfurt-based the Polytechnic Foundation that aims to supports young scientists in combining excellent science and child care responsibilities.

With the award, Tatjana will evaluate efficient coding strategies in recurrent spiking networks. Using computational methods, she and her team will investigate how spiking neurons encode and decode incoming signals and how neuronal spiking mechanisms determine the coding capacity. This interdisciplinary research venture will provide a foundation towards creating a theoretical model of how recurrent neural circuits could structure their activity to represent and process sensory information. The Max Planck Institute for Brain Research congratulates Tatjana Tchumatchenko on this accomplishment.
