Amparo Acker-Palmer receives an ERC Advanced Grant
With this five-year European grant of 2.5 million Euro, she will study the similarities between neurons and blood vessels and how they communicate in the brain.
Amparo Acker-Palmer is a professor at the Goethe University and since July 2014, a Max Planck Fellow at the MPI for Brain Research. Amparo´ s research will build on a observation already done by 16th century Flemish anatomist Andreas Vesalius that neurons and blood vessels traverse the body side by side. Only recently, researchers have discovered that the growth of neuronal and vascular networks is controlled by the same molecules. Amparo Acker-Palmer will focus on the communication between neurons and blood vessel cells in the brain. We congratulate her with this excellent achievements.
